- What fascinated Elie,why?
- 2.Was it easy to take showers, describe? It wasnt easy to take shower becuase the SS officers were not in control of the showers, so if he wanted to take a shower he needed to get there quick.
- 3.Describe how the father is now, what can you say about his spirit and his will to live, how has it changed? His father is growing weaker and weaker by the minute his spirit is dying out and losing will to live before he was struggiling to live and just kept on going, but now he just wants to die.
- 4.Why does elie mean he says, “ I felt that I was not arguing with him, but with death itself.”? He wants to keep him alive but he wants to die, so not only is he arguing with his father, to keep on going but he is arguing with death.
- 5.Why was elie ashamed of? What was he thinking about? Elie was ashamed of the thought that he had of leaving his father and just letting him die alone.
- 6.Why didn’t father eat anything? He wasn't hungry he was very tired and very thirsty.
- 7.Describe what is happening to Elie’s father. His father is really ill he is dying slowly, he is very weak and feels he can't go on much longer.
- 8.How are you supposed to live in a concentration camp? in a concentration camp every man has to fight for himself and not think of anyone else.
- 9.What was the last memory of elie’s father? The last memory Eli had of his father was of his bloody face and cracked skull.
- 10.What happened to Elie’s father? Elie's father was dead the next morning, the SS soldiers carried him out to the crematory.
- 11.Did elie cry? Why or why not? Elie did not weep, it pained him that he did not weep, but he had no more tears, and in the depths of his being in the recesses of his conscience, he felt free at last.
- 12.What does he mean “free at last”? He meant that he finally didn't have to worry about his father, he didn't have to fight for the both of them, now he could fight for only himself.
